Taxonomy
Allgayer, 1983
In his 2003 book, Staeck lists this fish as a Nannacara sp. "Sourourou" (and Nannacara sp. "Mana")
- a separate species.
Most other authors believe it is just a color form of N. aureocephalus.
The "Sourourou" population is found within the distributional range of N. aureocephalus.
Synonyms
Nannacara sp. "Sourourou"
Nannacara sp. "Mana"
Distribution and habitat
French Guiana, as far as known only in Crique Sourourou, between Kourou and Sinnamary.
My Experience
Seem to be easy to keep. Eat everything I offer.
When the female has fry, she is VERY aggressive towards the male when he approach the fry, the first weeks.
Breeding
I moved them to a bigger tank (160 liters) and lowered the pH from around 6,0 to 5,0; they bred immediately.
